From mid November to Mid April dear reader it's cords , cords , cords . And then adding on..Simple .
So today was extremely windy ( Edinburgh being the Chicago of South East Scotland )and so I took the bus to Edinburgh town with my kids . ( why is it the school holidays seem to appear seemingly every other week ?)And my daughter took these pictures in my private limousine, also known as ‘Lothian buses ‘ Well no one was on the back seat ! Because of the wind I decided to add a cap and this one is thankfully particularly close fitting.
Its an aqua scutum , cap , actually brought new in around 1998 , and I remember being then, really conscious of wearing it , as caps weren't really as now, ' the thing' , I think it took me about a year to build up the courage and actually I put it on , my next hat ' venture' will probably be a trilby , something as then , a bit different.
The top , a really nice mid blue RL , rugby , l prefer them just in solid colours , which adds a little bit more formality IMO . It was a steal at around sixteen pounds from e bay , and has patches on the sleeves , for that dash of charm . The beauty of these is that they actually look better when they fade , like that first pair of Levi's you brought back in the day .
The same could be said for the cords , which are , wait for it ..... ‘Sainsburys’ at around eighteen pounds , they fit well , not skinny fit , ( heaven forbid ! ) Reasonably waisted on the hips and (particularly in brown) , fade really nicely adding as with the top. , a touch of character. (New , the RL tops go for 200.00 but I don't think they do this lovely colour at present.
The ‘Cardy’ is another Sainsburys buy , (which considering I said I would never shop there again , after being sacked for not packing the shelves quick enough a couple of years ago ), was really a no brainier , at about eighteen pounds . . And the material ( a chain mail effect ) reminds me of the ones we used to wear as kids, ( normally in burgundy I may add ) , back in the day on the streets of 1980s Birmingham.
The shoes are my go-to casual option , which I have brought , time and time again since the eighties ; timberlands, but this time the first I have done so as a second hand buy , and were a steal at around 25.00 and have seen me through my second winter , ( on rotation, naturally.)
And finally a pair of bright green , RL socks , (just to put a spanner in the works ! )They have great colours. And yes , these were new dear reader .
Photos on an I phone ,
Seven , ( I think ) .
